LAKESHORE SHUTS DOWN LONG RUNNING TUESDAY LEAGUE

During the Summer of 2025, Lakeshore Sports Centre informed all teams of the Tuesday Night League that due to a lack of ice availability, the rink was not going to be able to host the league that has played at Lakeshore Sports Centre for over the past decade.  The storyline created a very large shift in the Muskegon men's league community, as several teams and leagues were also forced to change playing days, change rinks or withdraw from hockey.  While the news came as a complete disappointment for the Lakeside Locomotives who have been intact for over a decade, several team members joined our other Network teams of the Phantoms and Zombies for hockey.  A push was created by the team in late Summer 2025 to locate to another home.  However, limited ice time in the Holland and Grand Rapids areas which would affect the Phantoms or Zombies, forced the Locos to take the 2025-2026 season off.  The team is hopeful for a return to the ice in 2026 in Muskegon and is also perusing leagues at other rinks in West Michigan.  The Muskegon area is greatly affected by a surge in youth hockey which is creating a lack of ice in the Lakeshore community and the team is hopeful that a new business will create a third arena to help restore ice availability in the Muskegon area.

LOCOS CROWED BACK-2-BACK CHAMPIONS
Locos 24-25 Champs

The Lakeside Locomotives were able to save their best performance for last as the defending league champions were able to continue their reign as league champions with a 8-3 victory over the top seeded Busch Leaguers on April 22, 2025.  The Locomotives, powered by a pair of championship hat-tricks from Clay Potochny and Zack Kinney, were able to stun the highly favored Busch Leaguers with a third period blitz to take claim to the team's second championship in two seasons,

the third championship in four seasons and the fifth overall.  In addition to red lighters by Potochny and Kinney, Ruemenapp and HTuggle would net singletons in the championship-clinching game.  Entering the game, the Locomotives were 0-4 against the Busch Leaguers during regular season this season and saved every drop of energy for the big game to unleash eight goals in a very tight game against the regular season kingpins.  The Locomotives, who completed the regular season in second place with a 12-6-0 record, were able to to knock off Beerly Legal 8-3 in the opening round of the post-season, before advancing to knock out the Busch Leaguers.  Congratulations to the Locos!
