WALKER ICE & FITNESS (NEAR GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN)

 

The West Michigan Phantoms are pleased to currently call Walker Ice & Fitness Center the team's home.  The Phantoms joined the Walker hockey scene in the Summer of 2012 and were amazed at just how professionally run and clean this hockey rink and fitness center really is.  Traditionally hockey rinks are not the cleanest, however, the staff at Walker Ice & Fitness (WIFC) has gone the distance to ensure this City Provided rink is among the best in the state. The facility features a single sheet of ice, which is an NHL-sized 85' x 200'.  The facility also features a 1,200 square foot aerobic room and changing rooms that feature 265 lockers, individual showers, a sauna, and a stream room.  

 

In terms of the hockey rink, it features Five very large dressing rooms each equipped with 2-3 showers in each room!  Large players benches allow for plenty of room for rosters in excess of 15 adult players.  A glassed-in scorer's table and individual glassed-in penalty boxes separate the team benches.  In terms of watching the game for the fans, heated seating for 400 people is located in the actual arena, with an additional very large lobby viewing area (located outside of the actual arena) for a more controlled temperature setting.  WIFC features public skating, hockey/skating programs, adult and youth hockey, skate sharpening and skate rental.
