PHANTOM PLAN: RETURN TO HOCKEY-COVID19 RESPONSE
As the Phantoms prepare to Return to Hockey, the team has issued several recommendations for our players and fans in an effort to keep everyone safe. Walker Ice & Fitness will be issuing their own guidelines and changes in the coming days and those will be added to our team's plan to 'Return to Hockey.' WIFC OPENING; ICE RENTAL CONFIRMED; SEASON PLAN
It has been over three months since the West Michigan Phantoms skated at Walker Ice & Fitness due to the Covid19 outbreak. We are happy to announce the season is very close to returning and players are very close to being allowed back on the ice. Members of the Phantoms have been encouraged to begin gathering their equipment, washing and spraying down their equipment and bags (do not put jerseys in the dryer) and sharpening their skates. As with other public places, it is expected that their will be some restrictions and changes to the hockey environment upon return to Walker Ice & Fitness. These restrictions and changes are meant to keep everyone safe and while they may be difficult, it is important that everyone follows and complies with them. Some of the changes that are expected are no showering in the locker room before or after the game and no beer drinking in the locker room after games as teams will be required to exit the locker room 15 minutes after their game so rink staff can clean and disinfect the locker rooms for the next team. The Phantoms have portable outdoor showers in the event the locker room showers are not available. The Phantoms have been working with WIFC and the Zombies to schedule some ice rentals to help get the blood going and begin the process of quickly getting the body back in shape. Please stay tuned to the team website and social media for the latest information. In terms of the Men's League plan once hockey returns, the Phantom's Sunday league will head right into Play-offs with the Phantoms in Division II based on the end of regular season standings. Following a conclusion of the play-offs, it is expected that the league will begin with a short summer season. All of these plans are subject to change and will become more clear once the rink opens.
