No. 7 Returns After a Career-Best Playmaking Season—and the Tea Is Already on Ice
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Crack open another season, put the tea on ice and prepare for another refreshing helping of No. 7!
The West Michigan Phantoms have officially re-signed forward Jason Young for the Fall/Winter 2026–27 campaign.
Young enjoyed an outstanding season as a playmaker, collecting three goals and 11 assists for 14 points while staying out of the penalty box completely. That performance raised his Phantoms career totals to 20 goals, 26 assists and 46 points, accompanied by only 12 penalty minutes.
He enters the upcoming campaign just four points away from reaching 50 for his Phantoms career.
Young demonstrated last season that he can do considerably more than finish a scoring chance. His 11 assists showed an ability to locate open teammates, distribute the puck and help drive the Phantoms’ attack.
Three goals provided the flavor.
Eleven assists added the twist.
Fourteen points made for one refreshing season!
When the final horn sounds and the equipment has been put away, Young has also been known to enjoy a Twisted Tea—or two—as part of the postgame festivities. It is an appropriate beverage for a player whose game gave opposing defenses plenty of unexpected twists last season.

Need somebody to make sure the postgame iced tea supply does not go to waste? Jason Young is prepared to accept that responsibility!
Beyond the fun, Young’s return gives the Phantoms another proven offensive contributor for Season 62. His combination of goal scoring, playmaking and disciplined hockey makes him a valuable part of the West Michigan forward group.
With 46 career points already secured, Young now has several milestones within reach. His next goal will be the 21st of his career, his next assist will be No. 27, and four additional points will place him in the Phantoms’ 50-point club.
The tea is cold.
The offense is refreshed.
And Jason Young is ready to put another twist on the new season!
