Veteran Forward Brad Zehr Returns with 325 Career Points and More History Still to Write
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A familiar number is returning to the lineup, a proven veteran is coming back to the locker room, and another major piece of Phantoms history is officially in place!
The West Michigan Phantoms have signed veteran forward Brad Zehr for the Fall/Winter 2026–27 season.
Zehr, who will once again wear his familiar No. 21, returns with one of the most accomplished offensive résumés in Phantoms history. He recorded three assists last season, raising his career totals to an impressive 163 goals, 162 assists and 325 points, along with 164 penalty minutes.
That is more than production—it is longevity, loyalty and a whole lot of pucks finding their way onto the scoresheet!
A Grand Rapids native who now resides in Wyoming, Michigan, Zehr has been a steady presence throughout the Phantoms’ journey. He has supplied goals, created opportunities for his teammates and provided the kind of veteran familiarity that cannot be measured by statistics alone.
But make no mistake—the statistics are mighty impressive!
With nearly identical career totals of 163 goals and 162 assists, Zehr has demonstrated remarkable offensive balance. He has been just as capable of finishing a scoring chance himself as he has been of setting the table for somebody else.
Zehr now enters the new season with 325 career points already secured and an opportunity to continue adding to a Phantoms legacy built over years of competition. His return gives West Michigan another experienced forward who understands the team, the locker room and everything that comes with wearing the Phantoms crest.
For an organization preparing for its 62nd season, bringing back established players remains an important part of preserving the culture that has carried the Phantoms since 2002. Zehr represents that history while remaining ready to contribute to what comes next.
The goals have piled up. The assists have followed. The penalty minutes prove he has never been afraid to get involved—and No. 21 is not finished yet!
The veteran is back.
