Two-Way Standout Chris Laux Returns as the Most Productive Player in Franchise History
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Five hundred career points. Only one player in West Michigan Phantoms history has ever reached that towering total—and he is coming back for more!
The West Michigan Phantoms have officially re-signed two-way standout Chris Laux for the Fall/Winter 2026–27 season.
Wearing his familiar No. 15, Laux returns as the first and only member of the Phantoms’ exclusive 500-point club. He added four goals and four assists for eight points last season, raising his remarkable career totals to 335 goals, 175 assists and 510 points, along with 265 penalty minutes.
Those are not merely impressive numbers. They are franchise-defining numbers!
A Grand Rapids native who resides in Jenison, Laux developed his game while playing varsity high school hockey for the East Kentwood Falcons. His hockey journey also included a brief stint at Northern Michigan University before he ultimately established himself as one of the greatest offensive forces ever to wear a Phantoms sweater.
Throughout his West Michigan career, Laux has demonstrated the versatility to contribute at both ends of the rink. He can push the attack, finish scoring chances and supply offense as a forward. He can also drop back, defend and give the Phantoms experience along the blue line.
Wherever No. 15 lines up, production has followed.
Need a goal? Laux has scored 335 of them.
Need someone to create a scoring chance? Add another 175 assists.
Need a player who can move throughout the lineup and make an impact at either end? That is precisely why Chris Laux remains such a valuable part of the Phantoms.
Reaching 500 career points is an accomplishment few players can even imagine. Laux did not simply reach that landmark—he continued right through it and now enters the new season with 510 points and counting.
Every goal he scores, every assist he records and every point he adds will extend a franchise standard that currently belongs to him alone.
As the Phantoms prepare for Season 62, the return of their all-time offensive standard-bearer supplies the roster with scoring ability, positional flexibility and years of experience. It also keeps one of the organization’s most remarkable individual stories moving forward.
