1000TH GAME

On Sunday, February 15, 2026, the West Michigan Phantoms achieved a significant milestone in recreational men's league hockey history by playing in the team's 1000th league game.  It took the Phantoms 23 years, 5 months and 2 days or 8556 days of playing year-round hockey in three different rinks to reach thousand-game status.  Following early franchise games at Rivertown Sports, Cedar Rock Sports Plex and the current home of Walker Ice & Fitness, the Black & Yellow have been able to achieve great success in the West Michigan hockey scene on both inline and ice.  During the thousand-game achievement, the Phantoms would use a four-goal third period performance to fend off the Chefs 6-5 to mark the historic occasion.  Clay Potochny, the Butler, Pennsylvania native, would lead the Phantoms with four points by the way of a three goal hat-trick (including the game winning goal) and single assist to ultimately prevail the Phantoms to the win.  Trevor Zenas (1 goal, 2 assists) and Hunter Tuggle (3 assists) would add to the Phantoms 'Line One' dominance in the game with three points each.  Kyle Clark and Ryker Barber would be the other marksmen for the Phantom during the tilt, while Chris Laux and Andrew Erickson would each pile on an assist in the victory.  To honor the occasion and historic accomplishment, the team would receive a home-made 1000-game cake prepared by Kara and Sierra in the locker room post-game.  A special edition-1000th game poster was on-hand and all players (past and present) had the opportunity to sign the poster and leave a special message.  (this poster remains available for past players to sign as well).
