WEST MICHIGAN PHANTOMS ANNOUNCE SIGNING OF NATALIE NEMES

Walker, MI- The West Michigan Phantoms are proud to announce the signing of defenseman Natalie Nemes from Merrimack College.

Nemes joins the Phantoms after a five-year collegiate career with the Warriors, where she developed into a dependable, defense-first blueliner known for her shot-blocking ability and steady presence.

Over her collegiate career, Nemes appeared in 143 games, recording 6 goals and 13 assists for 19 points while consistently contributing in key defensive situations. In her final season (2024–25), she played in 35 games, tallying 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) while adding 44 shots on goal and 36 blocked shots.

Throughout her time at Merrimack, Nemes was a durable and reliable presence, appearing in every game during the 2020–21 season and surpassing the 100-game milestone during her career. She also made a significant impact in the defensive zone, recording multiple seasons with 35+ blocked shots.

Off the ice, Nemes earned recognition as an AHCA All-American Scholar, highlighting her excellence in the classroom while maintaining a high level of play on the ice.

“Natalie brings experience, toughness, and a strong defensive mindset to our group,” said Phantoms Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Wootton. “She’s a player who competes hard, blocks shots, and does the little things that help teams win. We’re excited to add her to our lineup.”

Prior to Merrimack, Nemes starred at Tabor Academy, where she was a two-time Patriot League All-Star and All-Scholastic selection, further demonstrating her well-rounded ability as both a student and athlete.

Nemes is expected to make an immediate impact on the Phantoms’ blue line as the team continues to build a strong roster for the upcoming season.
